Climate change has become a major factor in the rapid warming of heat and land, and the immense loss of biodiversity on the planet. Accelerating sea level rise and the melting of glaciers is leading to major changes in tide levels and causing devastating floods. All of these factors have contributed to health risks, uncertain food security levels and displacement.
The WMO Statement on the State of the Global Climate in 2019 is a report which included inputs from leading international experts and agencies that deal with climate change and its impacts. It includes several calls for action to slow down climate change.
According to the reports, these are the 7 major impacts of climate change on the world-
Because of hydrometeorological events such as Cyclone Idai in Southeast Africa and Cyclone Fani in South Asia, as many as 6.7 million displacements were recorded in those areas in the past years. A total of 22 million displacements were recorded all over the world, most of which were due to floods and storms.
2. Food Security
Global hunger has been on the rise due to climate change in the past few years. After a decade of decline in hunger rates, it has increased again in the past year.
