After Coal India nudge, Goa forms panels

The state government on Thursday constituted a selection committee besides a monitoring committee to oversee the utilisation of the Dongeri Tal-II coal block in Madhya Pradesh.

The two committees include members of local industry bodies. The selection committee, which is headed by the secretary of industries Nila Mohanan, will choose the consultant, which will assist Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) in efficient exploitation of the coal block.

Under-secretary A S Mahatme said the selection committee will devise a standard procedure for selection of the consultant based on their technical qualification and financial offers.

The five-member committee also comprises additional finance secretary, under-secretary for industries, director of industries, trade & commerce department and managing director for GIDC.

In the notification, Mahatme also said the government has constituted a monitoring committee to oversee the development the coal block allotted to GIDC. The committee is headed by industries minister Vishwajit Rane and includes chairman of GIDC Glen nTiclo.

Mohanan along with president of Goa State Industries Association Damodar Kochar, president of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Manoj Caculo and a few others are also on the nine-member committee.
