Ahead of Durga Puja festivities, Kolkata Metro is all set to resume services on Sundays. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of Metro Rail officials who tweaked the existing operations. Kolkata Metro services will start on Sundays from 4th October and the first service will begin at 10:10 am and the last service will be at 07:30 pm.
However, this service will only be available on the North-South line and not the East-West corridor for now. The Metro authorities also extended the operations of the underground public transport system by half an hour on weekdays. Now the last train will be at 07:30 pm instead of 07:00 pm.
With just 24 days to go for Durga Puja, the Metro will be a blessing for those looking to head out for Puja shopping in Kolkata. The decisions come just two weeks after Metro services resumed operations in the city amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
