BSES Delhi discoms clear Rs 400 crore dues of NTPC joint venture

BSES Delhi power distribution companies on Monday said they have settled Rs 400 crore outstanding dues of Aravali Power Company Pvt Ltd, a joint venture power project between NTPC Ltd, Haryana power utility and Indraprastha Power Generation.

BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL) have resolved the matter with Aravali Power Corporation Private Ltd and have paid Rs 352.27 crore and Rs 47.34 crore respectively, as per the demand, a BSES spokesperson said.

“”BSES discoms are committed to supply reliable and uninterrupted power-supply to around 46 lakh consumers in Delhi,” he said.

Aravali Power Company had last week invoked the insolvency law seeking payment of its dues from the two BSES Delhi power distribution companies. The two distribution companies are 51%-owned by Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure.

The two distribution companies owe a total of Rs 1,864 crore to the NTPC joint venture — Rs 999 crore by BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and Rs 865 crore by BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL).
