Fuel prices unchanged, diesel remains costlier than petrol in Delhi

Domestic petrol and diesel prices were kept unchanged in mostly all cities across the country on Saturday (July 11). In Delhi, diesel continues to remain marginally costlier than petrol. Due to a higher VAT, the price of diesel is at a lifetime high in Delhi. In the national capital, the price of petrol is currently at Rs 80.43 per litre and diesel is priced at Rs 80.78 per litre.

In view of the increase in VAT on diesel in Delhi, petrol pump owners in the capital urged the state government earlier this week to reduce VAT on petroleum products citing lower rates in neighbouring states. The Delhi Petrol Dealers Association (DPDA), which has around 400 petrol pump owners as members, said in a statement that the increase in VAT on diesel is resulting in heavy loss of sales at petrol pumps in Delhi. In the letter, DPDA said that there has been huge sale loss due to High VAT rate at 30% and that it has made petrol pumps unviable to operate, making it difficult to meet expenses and pay salaries.

Petrol, Diesel price today:
