GE Renewable Energy said it will supply and commission four 125-MW fixed speed pumped storage turbines for the Kundah hydropower plant (HPP) project in India. The company has been chosen by Hyderabad-based builder Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) to implement the pumped hydro storage solution.
The contract will have the division of US multinational General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) design, manufacture, supply and supervise the installation and commissioning of the four turbines and motor generators. The company will also be responsible for the electronic governor, excitation system, control and protection system and part of the balance of plant, it said.
Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), the power utility owned by the government of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, will operate the Kundah plant.
