Your power bills are likely to get heftier in April, with the electricity department proposing a tariff hike of 3.84 %. “The electricity department has proposed a tariff hike of 3.84 % for FY 2020-2021,” the department stated in its tariff petition submitted to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission.
After a public hearing, the commission will decide on the government’s proposal.
The department, in its proposed tariff structure is looking at cumulatively billing low-tension consumers at a uniform rate for their entire power consumption, instead of the present staggered slab rate billing.
