MNRE amends ALMM Order to include open access, net-metering projects

The Ministry of New and Renewable energy has amended the Approved Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) of Solar Photovoltaic Modules Order, 2019 to include open access and net-metering projects, which will be applicable from April 1 2022.

MNRE has enlisted the eligible models and manufacturers of solar PV cells and modules complying with the BIS Standards in the ALMM list.

“Only the models and manufacturers included in this list will be eligible for use in government projects, government-assisted projects, projects under government schemes and programmes, open access, and net-metering projects, installed in the country,” according to the office memorandum released by the ministry.

This includes projects set up for sale of electricity to the government under the guidelines issued by the Center Government under section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003 and amendment thereof.

“The word ‘government’ includes central government, state governments, central public sector enterprises, state public sector enterprises and, central and state organisations or autonomous bodies,” it added.
