Mumbai: Petrol price crosses Rs 91 mark, diesel costliest ever

Petrol price on Wednesday crossed Rs 91 for a litre in Mumbai after remaining unchanged for five days. On the other hand, diesel is priced at a record high in the financial capital of the country at Rs 81.34.

The price of petrol is Rs 91.07 per litre. The highest level for petrol in Mumbai was on October 4, 2018, when it was Rs 91.34.

Though petrol and diesel rates are to be revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international price and foreign exchange, government-controlled fuel retailers have been moderating rates since the pandemic broke out.

In Delhi, petrol price touched a new high of Rs 84.45 per litre after state-owned fuel retailers hiked prices after a five-day hiatus.

Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 25 paise per litre each, in the national capital, according to a price notification from oil marketing companies.
