People of Maharashtra who have received inflated electricity bills during the coronavirus pandemic period are likely to get relief from the state energy department during Diwali says Energy Minister Nitin Raut while speaking in Mumbai. More than 7 times the issue of inflated bills were discussed in the state cabinet but the state government didn’t find any solution to give relief to the people of Maharashtra.
Recently state assembly speaker Nana Patole had called an urgent meeting on this issue, he had also instructed the state Energy Department to work on some formula and give relief to people who have got inflated bills.
“My department has worked on this issue, they have filed a proposal to the finance department. If the finance department approves it then during Diwali only people of Maharashtra may get their gift,” said Minister Nitin Raut.
When Raut was asked about his promise of free electricity up to 100 units to households, he replied “We had formed the committee on this issue. So far, this committee had met once only before the pandemic. Committee will submit its report to me. I am hopeful that the committee will submit its report to me before the next budget session.”
