Platform ticket prices risen at these railway stations in Mumbai

In order to curb the excessive traffic at railway stations in Mumbai, Central Railways has risen the platform ticket price at certain stations ahead of the festive season.

The rate has gone up from the previous fee of Rs 10 to a price of Rs 50 at the Dadar, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai and Thane, Kalyan, Panvel stations of the Mumbai division.

The fresh rates came into effect on October 7 and would remain the same until further revision.

An official statement by the Central Railway zone of Indian Railways said, “This has been done to curb the excessive rush at platforms and railway stations and also concourses and terminus during the festive season.”

Indian Railways also pointed out in March this year that a spike in platform ticket prices is a temporary resort to control the spread of the Covid-19 disease.
