Public hearing on February 5 over power tariff hike proposal

Consumers can participate in a public hearing scheduled on February 5 on the electricity department’s tariff proposal for the year 2020-2021.

Consumers have been requested to send in their suggestions and objections to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) which will conduct the hearing as well as the Goa electricity department by February 3.

The power tariff is likely to rise in April, with the electricity department proposing a hike of 3.84%.

In its proposed tariff structure, the department is looking at cumulatively billing low tension consumers at a uniform rate for the entire consumption instead of the present staggered slab rate billing.
