To put an end to pollution in Buddha Nullah being contributed by the dairy industry at Hambran Road, the Punjab Energy Development Authority (Peda) has upgraded the bio-CNG plant in the dairy complex. Peda will hand over this plant to private player for operation and maintenance (O&M). Earlier, the plant was not fully functional due to which the cowdung waste was not being utilised properly in the plant and the drain was getting polluted. Peda officials claim the plant is fully operational now.
The 1MW capacity bio-gas plant is running at Haibowal dairy complex in 2.42 acre of land since October 2004 and from 2012 the construction of CNG plant was started. Peda also conducted a trial run of this plant for almost a year.
