ReNew Power on Thursday said it has commissioned 250 megawatt (MW) capacity of its interstate transmission system solar generation project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. It will provide clean energy to Bihar at a rate of Rs 2.55 per unit and direct employment to about 600 people.
The project has a total generation capacity of 300 MW which was won by ReNew Power in tranche-III of the competitive auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India. According to the company press release, the remaining 50 MW capacity is expected to be commissioned by the end of this month.
“This project is another step towards achieving close to 18 gigawatt of installed renewable energy capacity by 2025… This project was commissioned within the budget and the stipulated time despite COVID related challenges,” said Sumant Sinha, founder, chairman and chief executive officer, ReNew Power.
He added that this is the first project to be commissioned after ReNew Power started trading on NASDAQ.
